Students Against a Tobacco Ban at VTC
In regards to the Vermont State Department of Health's proposal to make VSC colleges tobacco free: As students, faculty, and staff of Vermont Tech we feel it is a restriction of our personal freedoms, or those of our peers, for tobacco use to be banned from VTC premises.
Why is this important?
Vermont Tech has a large tobacco-using population, whether that be smoking, chewing/dipping, or other means. This proposal restricts our personal freedoms and cultural values, as well as those of our peers. We are also concerned that if this proposal were passed, future enrollment at Vermont Tech would decline.
