Due to repeated actions against schools involving guns, we ask that the legislative and executive branches of our government act immediately to impose the following restrictions. Our expectation is that our government representatives will act in support of the majority of the population, and not just their immediate base or paid lobbyists.
1) IMPOSE AN IMMEDIATE BAN ON THE SALE OF ASSAULT STYLE WEAPONS; No citizen needs a military grade weapon for defense, hunting or sportsmanship.
2) THOROUGH BACKGROUND CHECKS WITH NO LOOPHOLES; Background checks to include mental health, history of drug or alcohol abuse, any criminal record, gun show and private purchases, an environment of domestic abuse, and a 30-day waiting period.
3) IMPOSE A BAN ON LARGE CAPACITY MAGAZINES (MORE THAN 10 ROUNDS) AND BUMP STOCKS; Nobody needs these devices for safety or sporting purposes.
4) ESTABLISH A MINIMUM AGE FOR GUN OWNERSHIP OF 21, WITH SOME EXCEPTIONS; e.g. security force training, an officially sponsored athletic event, etc.
5.) ESTABLISH A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF FIREARMS THAT CAN BE PURCHASED WITHIN A SPECIFIED PERIOD OF TIME, AND A LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF FIREARMS ALLOWED PER HOUSEHOLD.
