SUNY Speaks Up! Legislative Agenda of 2013

We, the SUNY Student Assembly and the students of SUNY, voted on these five bullet points for our legislative agenda. By signing this petition we are imploring you to focus on the higher education system that is SUNY.

Please Senators, Assemblymen, and Governor Cuomo, please make our legislative agenda a priority!

•Increase community college base aid by at least $260 per full-time equivalent (FTE) as a part of the ongoing Rational Aid approach for community colleges.

•Reform the current community college chargeback system, while urging counties to follow the existing law until change is implemented.

•Reinstate the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) for graduate students and expand access to TAP for all students.

•Provide adequate funding to SUNY Medical Centers in order to better serve the healthcare needs of their communities and remain competitive in the marketplace to achieve long term financial stability.

•Reclassify residence hall program as a non-state supported entity and create a separate residence hall bond program.

Thank you!

Why is this important?

Why should you sign this petition?
To show your support for the legislative agenda of the SUNY Student Assembly which supports the funding and assistance SUNY needs for 2013.

Right now the Governor has given a State of the State Address that did not make SUNY a priority. SUNY shares 2.2% with CUNY for the proposed budget for 2013.

Isn't affording school hard enough? For housing, meal plans, fees, textbooks, and more? Yes! SUNY needs funding!
Don't the students deserve to be treated as the future of the state?
Yes! SUNY students are the future!

Please sign in support!
Thank you.
