Recently, Rep. Art Handy has advanced a bill that would rein in Rhode Island's greenhouse gas emissions to levels consistent with what science says we need to reach, ratcheting down greenhouse gas pollution toward a final target of 80% less pollution by 2050.
With the final touches being put on this legislation, I urge you to support the following House bills, and their Senate companion bills once introduced: H5801, which creates the global warming pollution cap, and H5812, which helps use clean energy program funding to implement the climate bill.
Why is this important?
Recently, environmental leaders in the Rhode Island General Assembly have pushed forward a bill that would rein in greenhouse gas emissions to levels consistent with what science says we need to reach to avoid the worst effects of global warming.
But to get the bill over the finish line in the last weeks of the legislative session, we'll need Rhode Islanders all over the state to weigh in with their representatives. Send a message to your state rep and senator: Support the Climate Solutions Act.
