Why is this important?
Today you can get a loan to buy a used car for less than 3%, but current and recent Alaska Student Loan Corporation loan rates range from roughly 6.25% to 9%. Please support House Bill 272 to reduce the principal of your Alaska student loan annually by 2.5%, and help Alaskans stay in Alaska and return to Alaska. A 2.5% annual principal reduction is the equivalent of a 3% reduction in the student loan interest rate.
