Support Augusta County Residential Backyard Hens
We support the ordinance change to allow backyard hens in residentially zoned Augusta County. We will support the politicians who support the people. Please stand with us in support of this ordinance.
Why is this important?
On January 28, 2015, the Augusta County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing to determine whether backyard hens are allowed in residentially zoned areas. Backyard hens provide pest control (eating ticks, stinkbugs and other pests), compost (consuming kitchen scraps and diverting tons of waste from landfills), produce healthier eggs than factory farm chickens (with 3 times more vitamin E and 7 times more beta carotene), and prevent heritage breed extinction (should factory farms suffer due to illness, backyard flocks can keep chickens alive and well). Safe, healthy, beneficial to families and the environment, we have a right to have hens in our backyards.
