Support California Values Act as State-Wide Legislation

California Values Act (SB54) prohibits state and local agencies from notifying Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials when an immigrant is about to be released from custody and could be subject to deportation. Although this act was passed October 5th, 2017, some cities are trying to opt out of this act, but are being sued by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) because it is unconstitutional to reject state law on the city level. Signing this petition will not only show Governor Gavin Newsom that you support SB54 but will show that you support him in strictly cracking down on the cities trying to opt out. SB54 makes it so immigrant communities can integrate into city and county populations and promote public safety, public health, economic rights, and make California a better place.
