Support Georgia's Caregivers

Currently, Georgia is a state that does not offer reimbursement, or Medicaid payments to Family caregivers who support an adult dependent with a disability. The Federal and State governments will provide money to the caregiver of a disabled person only if that caregiver is a 3rd party. Under current Georgia state law, If the caregiver is a parent or relative of the disabled person, they do not qualify for compensation from the state Medicaid program. This is unfair for the caregivers in our communities who sacrifice their own time and ability to work in order to care for disabled family members.

Why is this important?

Family caregivers in Georgia should be allowed to receive Medicaid and State reimbursement funds for their work.
