Support HB 2102: Death With Dignity Act in Arizona
This petition is in support of HB2102: Death With Dignity Act introduced in the Arizona State Legislature current session. HB2012 is a bill which empowers the terminally ill (being given a prognosis of death within 6 months) with the legal right to choose when and how they wish to experience dying. This bill is modeled after a very safe, effective, and popular policy that has been in place in Oregon for over 20 years.
Why is this important?
This petition has been started by a group of social workers who care deeply about healthcare policies that affect vulnerable populations. This petition voices support for the freedom and legal right of terminally ill individuals to take control over the circumstances by which they experience the dying process. The bill includes evidence based practices in the implementation of a Death With Dignity option and tough safeguards against abuse. The choices that HB2102 provides to the terminally ill have been proven beneficial to patients and families; safe and effective in providing peace of mind and restoring control to the terminally ill.
