Just days before our scheduled Katy Pride Celebration, Typhoon Texas Waterpark in Katy, Texas abruptly canceled our event—less than 72 hours before it was set to begin—citing “security concerns.”
This decision to cancel our contract was made without any effort to collaborate on solutions. Instead, it sends a hurtful message to the LGBTQ+ community that fear and prejudice can erase months of hard work and celebration overnight.
But we refuse to be canceled and we will not be erased.
Katy Pride was founded to celebrate love, unity, and equality for all, values that represent the true spirit of our community. This last-minute cancellation will not stop us. It only strengthens our resolve to show that love is louder, stronger, and far greater in number than hate will ever be.
