Governor Paul LePage and the Republicans in the Maine State Legislature have decided they will pass a budget cutting key health and social welfare programs for the most vulnerable Maine citizens without input from or modification by the Democratic members of the Maine legislature. The Maine Democrats feel they have no alternative but to capitulate because Republicans have the majority and "Democrats don't fight." The disgraceful Republican budget cuts target programs and supports for children, the elderly and disadvantaged citizens.
