Current policies leave over half our streams and 20 million acres of wetlands vulnerable. Streams and wetlands aren’t just geographical features. They provide drinking water for over 117 million people, serve as critical habitat for fish and wildlife, protect us against floods and filter pollution out of our water. They are vital parts of our water infrastructure.
I am counting on your Administration to stand up for the Clean Water Act, which has helped to clean-up and protect our water for nearly 40 years. Please continue to do everything you can to keep the clean water progress moving.
Why is this important?
In April, the Obama Administration said that clean water is the foundation for healthy communities and a healthy environment. I agree completely, and urge you to make sure that the clean water policies being proposed by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers move forward.
