We are signing to show our support for the Virginia College for All legislation, and for other states to make similar commitments to their students. Policymakers in Virginia: Support H.B. 696.
Why is this important?
The Virginia College for All (formerly, the Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program) would offer no-loan guarantees to low-income students and interest free loans to students of middle-income families. Since state disinvestment in higher education is the number one reason colleges are cutting funds from their financial aid programs, this new legislation is a victory in reversing these trends. Other states should follow suit.
