Surfrider Foundation: Stop Supporting Sewage Waivers

On May 10th, Surfrider signed on to the continued dumping of 50 billion gallons a year of poorly treated sewage from the Point Loma Wastewater Treatment Plant into the Pacific Ocean using the 301h waiver, allowing for less than Full Secondary Treatment. San Diego is the worst dumper in the nation and last such waiver in the State. SHAME ON SURFRIDER. We the undersigned NO LONGER SUPPORT SURFRIDER FOUNDATION until all San Diego sewage is TREATED TO FULL SECONDARY.

Why is this important?

By supporting the 301h sewage waiver, Surfrider Foundation has betrayed the surfing community. Saving money is not a good reason to allow the ocean to be treated as a toilet. When every other municipality in California has given up their waiver and built infrastructure needed for secondary treatment, why should San Diego be different? Surfrider has turned their back on us, let's turn our back on them.
