Statutes Amended In Order of Appearance
20 ILCS 1605/7.18 new
Synopsis as introduced amends the Illinois Lottery Law. It provides that if, in any fiscal year, appropriations have not been made that ensure the availability of funds to pay prizes to the holders of winning tickets or shares during that fiscal year, the Department of the Lottery shall suspend the sale of lottery tickets and shares until those appropriations have been made, effective immediately.
Why is this important?
The Illinois Lottery has said that anyone who has won $600 or more won’t be paid until the state budget is passed.
Illinois issued a statement saying that its check writing account is empty and it can’t be replenished right now.
Please sign this petition calling on Illinois to adopt a budget or end the sale of its Lottery sales.
