To: The Alabama State House, The Alabama State Senate, and Governor Kay Ivey
Take a Bold Stand for Alabama
Governor Bentley and the Alabama State Legislature are pushing an agenda that takes money from state schools, and from Medicaid, in order to balance the budget, while they enforce an extremely biased and unjust immigration policy and trample on the rights of Alabama Women.
Alabama is already one of the most backward of all states in the union, and these agendas are pushing us back into the dark ages. Surely there are more fair and just ways to go about balancing the budget and maintaining jobs for natural Alabama citizens. And surely women in our state deserve health care that matches their most sincere needs.
Alabama prides itself on not having large propertey taxes while we have one of the greatest sales taxes and refuse to have a lottery. This is absolute fiscal irresponsibility and while none of us want to be taxed, the facts are this: As long as we are not increasing property taxes--especially for large and incredibly wealthy businesses--we are going to be behind almost every other state in the nation in education and health care. We've got to wake up and smell the coffee. It is absolutely unconscionable to even think of taking any more money from our already starving educational system or to take money from the poor and disabled citizens of our state who use Medicaid to take care of their health. And the truth is, that those who are making these decisions are usually extremely financially sound.
Further, the idea that immigrants should be so unjustly treated here is just informative of the bias that is running this state. Every member of the Alabama House and Senate as well as Governor Bently, is allowed to be here in this United States because someone else in their family was once an illigal immigrant. And just because we slaughtered a bunch of natural American citizens in order to take over this country doesn't mean that we should forget where we came from . This is just plain wrong.
Alabama stands on its self-righteous haunches and howls at the rest of the union about how evil everyone else is, while the citizens of this state suffer because of the backwardness and bias that legislates morality instead of fairness, sound judgement and ethics.
Sign this petition to ask the Alabama Governor and Alabama House and Senate to start thinking kindly towards its citizens, and even a bit more kindly towards it's immigrants by being creative with budgeting decision instead of robbing the poor to feed the rich.
