Ask Congressman Mannion to Sign the Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565)
RE: Sign onto the Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565); Meet with Community on Legislation
The Working Families Party is a multiracial working-class political party and progressive Movement founded in 1998. We focus on economic justice, social justice, and labor rights. As part of our commitment to social justice, our national organization has endorsed the Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565). Join us in asking our Congressional Representative to honor life and sign onto H.R. 3565.
If passed, this Act would stop the Trump Administration from shipping the exact munitions Israel has used in its genocide of Palestinians in Gaza. The use of U.S. weapons by the Israeli military in Gaza is not only unconscionable, but also violates U.S. law (the Foreign Assistance Act) and International Humanitarian Law.
The Central New York Working Families Party Chapter urges you to co-sponsor the Block the Bombs Act (H.R. 3565). As one of the major organizations that endorsed your successful campaign, and as a partner in the fight against Trump, we ask you to join 82 of your colleagues, including Rep. Paul Tonko (D-NY-20) & Rep. Pat Ryan (D-NY-18), and co-sponsor the Block the Bombs Act.
There are local organizations that are requesting to meet regarding H.R. 3565, including representatives from Syracuse Jewish Voice for Peace and Syracuse Democratic Socialists of America, a close local partner. We ask your office to coordinate and honor their request for a direct meeting with you. We would be happy to convene the groups on your behalf.
NY WFP endorsed your run for Congress because of our shared commitment to labor rights, fixing our healthcare system, and other values. The vast majority of Americans, regardless of party, support the aim of this bill. A Quinnipiac University poll conducted last year found that 60% of all Americans believe that the U.S. should stop sending weapons to Israel. We have also seen in recent elections that the base of the Democratic party is demanding that the U.S. make a strong unequivocal commitment to block U.S. weapon transfers and military funding to Israel.
The majority of Americans want money for education, healthcare, and clean energy - not for bombs that killed an average of 28 children a day in Gaza during the height of the genocide, the equivalent to an entire classroom.
Stand with us, and your constituents, and demand that we stop supplying bombs for genocide. Sign onto H.R 3565.

Why is this important?
- It’s our money. The U.S. has spent more than $20 billion on military aid to Israel in about two years. That is taxpayer federal money, and as Americans, we get a say in how it’s used.
- It doubles-down in the law. There’s an existing U.S. law that says we can’t give weapons to foreign military units credibly tied to serious human rights abuses. We are not following it. This bill narrows in on these rules being applied to the growing number of Palestinian deaths as a result of this conflict.
- It’s specific and blocks a list of offensive weapons. Weapons to defend from attacks, like shooting down an incoming rocket, is not what we're proposing be blocked. Those are called "defense weapons" and are still in America's purview. This stops the transfer of weapons that take civilian life. We didn't sign up to kill others.
- It’s about our safety and reputation, too. When American bombs show up in footage of destroyed neighborhoods, that hurts how the world sees us and further pulls us into a conflict that makes Americans a target in the future.
