Tattoos: Should Teens the age of 16 and older get tattoos with parents permission?
"Stop the spread of infectious diseases in our teens from unprofessional tattoos."
Why is this important?
As the owner of a local tattoo parlor in Dexter, I have had several parents come in wanting their teens to recieve tattoos by professional Artists. Because the State of Maine has a No one under the age 18 shall receive tattoos policy. I see alot of Teens going to people's homes to have tattoos done. Not only are these home environments unclean and unsterile, these teens are getting infectious diseases such as; Mercer, Hepatitis, and even HIV. Tattoos are the "IN Thing" for teens this day and age. Lets change the law to "Teens 16 yrs. of age and older may recieve a tattoo by a professional, licensed parlor, so as long as their parents consent and sign to it." Let's keep our teens from getting un-necessary diseases that could affect their future health.
