We propose that there be a new tax on gun owners as well as gun and ammunition sales to pay for the National Rifle Association proposal for armed guards in schools. While recognizing the second amendment right of gun owners, it is imperative that schools be kept safe. A new system of armed guards in schools should not be established at the cost of reduced education funding but instead by the gun owning public.
Why is this important?
The NRA has refused to enter the discussion about reducing gun violence in our society. They have recommended that schools have armed guards to insure safety. Unfortunately, no funding source for this plan was discussed. Gun owner must realize that their second amendment right does come with responsibilities as well.
