Charge a new tax on all firearm sales, and use the funds to provide School Resource Officers (SROs) in public schools. SROs are not armed guards; they are police officers assigned to a specific school to provide education, counseling, and protection to the school community.
Why is this important?
I want my kids to come home safe at the end of each school day. With education budgets squeezed everywhere, schools don't have the resources to adequately protect our children from tragic events like the mass killing in Newtown, Connecticut. We need a revenue stream to secure our children's safety.
