Tax Large and Powerful Religious Institutions

Taxing churches would create billions of dollars for public services. We want to continue to live in a first world country and taxing churches would help us to do so. Powerful churches are paying for public relations campaigns to sway voters. If they can afford the cost of campaigning and public relations, they can afford to pay taxes. There is an incredible amount of fraud going on from people claiming tax exemption and it could be stopped with proper tax coding. And finally, we have a duty to uphold the first amendment and make sure our government is not unconstitutionally and unfairly protecting religious groups. "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." Thank you for your time.

Why is this important?

Religious institutions should be held accountable to the citizens who subsidize them. There is absolutely no good reason why churches, especially large and highly profitable ones, should not be paying taxes.
