TAX THE GUN INDUSTRY for the costs that they incur.
TAX THE GUN INDUSTRY for the costs that they incur.
FEES; (as an example);
- $10 MILLION for every fatal gunshot wound. (more for law enforcement professionals who must be replaced. And even more for children)
- $250 thousand per year for every incarcerated gun criminal.
- $5,000 up to $1Million for every hospital visit by a gunshot victim.
- 50% to 100% gun purchase tax to cover all bureaucracy required to maintain our right to bear arms.
- $5,000 for every law enforcement call that results in the illegal presence or illegal use of a gun.
BENEFITS;
- creates a legitimate reason for the gun industry to give a damn about gun safety and not fight and block every reasonable effort to make it real.
- the industry profiting from the sale of guns pays their fair share of a financial burden that is now shouldered equally by everyone.
- provides funds for law enforcement efforts (technology, training, etc.) to curb gun violence.
- provides funds to identify and care for the mentally ill and mentally deranged.
- provides funds for the healthcare of gun victims
- provides funds for the gun criminal's expense of incarceration, judicial, parole, and re-entry to society.
The gun industry must be held at least to the same standard of safety and liability as car, power tool and even toy manufacturers. If a child chokes on a toy, whether it included a warning label or not, the manufacturer of that toy is vilified, sued and scorned….So then, who manufactured the rifle that killed 20 Kindergartners? Apparently no one cares. That needs to change. THE MANUFACTURER and all those along the supply chain need to care.

Why is this important?
We have heard it all before. Unfortunately, the status quo approach to gun control will fail. There is only one solution that will also maintain our justifiable right to bear arms and at the same time diffuse NRA incentives to undermine any and all efforts at gun control. And this solution will only require the support of a few correct thinking members of the U.S. House of Representatives:
