Tea Party Republicans: Stop holding the country hostage!
Dear Representative Burgess,
Please vote to reopen the federal government and raise the nation's debt ceiling without defunding existing programs. Failure to do so would have disastrous consequences. We can all agree on the need to put our country's finances in order, but the current stance of a minority in the House of Representatives could easily undermine faith in U.S currency and lead to widespread and immediate financial hardship. Congress needs to deal with these issues responsibly and without precipitating a worldwide crisis.

Why is this important?
My father served 33 years in the U.S. Navy, starting with WWII through the Vietnam War. He and his generation made it possible for me and my generation to enjoy the many benefits of our society. Congress should respect this legacy and behave responsibly with respect to the functioning of our government and begin to act for the common good.
