The Bronx must not continue to be overburdened by New York City's trash. South Bronx residents and children shouldn't have to suffer from a continuous assault on the environment making already precarious health statistics worse.
Why is this important?
We urge you to support Intro 495, a.k.a. The Waste Equity Bill, which seeks to unburden communities in The Bronx, Brooklyn, and Queens that handle an unfair 80% of NYC's garbage. Each borough needs to take care of their fair share and the South Bronx shouldn't be saddled with over 30% of the city's garbage.
We are already suffering an epidemic crisis with the highest rates of asthma in the nation.
This city's economics must not continue to be prioritized over the health of our communities.
Not only do we deserve better from our elected officials trusted with our health and environment, but we demand better.
