Tell Congress: Protect Monkeys and Apes from Animal Trafficking

Every day, monkeys and apes suffer at the hands of traffickers who capture, smuggle, and sell them in the exotic pet trade.

Separated at birth from their parents, these intelligent primates are raised in atrocious conditions, often abused and mistreated.

It’s time for Congress to pass the Captive Primate Safety Act and put an end to the trafficking of nonhuman primates!

Why is this important?

Primates belong in the wild, not in human homes. Twenty-two states have laws prohibiting private ownership of nonhuman primates, but the exotic pet trade continues to profit off their suffering, and monkeys can still be bought at auctions and on the internet.

It’s time to ban the trafficking of monkeys and apes. The Captive Primate Safety Act would add nonhuman primates to the list of animals that are prohibited from being bought and sold. Primates already in captivity would grow up in zoos and wildlife sanctuaries – and more would be left alone in their native habitat.

Your voice is critical to taking action. Sign the petition: tell Congress to pass the Captive Primate Safety Act and protect monkeys and apes from animal trafficking! Working together, we can put an end to these cruel practices and allow these animals to live as they were meant to.
