Tell Congress: Stop Scott Pruitt from letting Dow Chemical poison our communities and our food sy...
Dear Representative,
March 29 is the one year anniversary of Scott Pruitt rolling back the Obama administration’s ban on the toxic pesticide chlorpyrifos. Pruitt’s action put our children and our farmworkers at risk of being poisoned by this chemical, which can harm children’s developing brains.
In the last year, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt has put the pesticide industry and other polluting industries ahead of people and our environment time and time again. Chlorpyrifos is so dangerous that, after years of study, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), based on the weight of the scientific evidence, was set to ban all uses of this pesticide in 2015. However, Scott Pruitt reversed the proposed ban after Dow delivered $1 million to Donald Trump’s inaugural committee.
The science is clear: There are no safe uses of chlorpyrifos. Early life exposures to this chemical are associated with reduced IQ, loss of working memory, attention disorders and delayed motor development. Whenever chlorpyrifos is sprayed, it can cause immediate and long-term health harms to kids, farmers, farmworkers and others who are exposed.
Scott Pruitt’s actions signal that he is more concerned about protecting the interests of the pesticide industry than the American public. He has lost the confidence of both career agency staff and the American people. He is no longer fit to be a public servant.
I demand that you publicly call for his resignation, and if he persists, I demand that you support the introduction of Articles of Impeachment against him.
Thank you,

Why is this important?
One year ago on March 29, 2017, EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt decided that our children’s health is less important than Dow Chemical’s profits. He revoked a ban on Dow’s nerve gas pesticide chlorpyrifos, shortly after meeting with Dow executives.
Pruitt’s willingness to poison our communities to help Big Ag makes him unfit to serve as EPA Administrator. The evidence is clear: We need Congress to hold Pruitt accountable and kick him out of the EPA.
