Tell Congress: We want protection from toxic chemicals

I'm concerned about the thousands of untested and unregulated toxic chemicals in our everyday products. We need to make sure the final bill to reform the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) will preserve state authority to protect us from toxic chemicals. States have often led the way on protections from toxic chemicals, and therefore I urge you to limit preemption of state laws, or eliminate it entirely if possible, and to preserve all existing state laws in the final bill.

Why is this important?

For decades, our nation's major chemical law, the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), has been too weak to protect us from toxic chemicals in our everyday products. Congress is putting the final touches on an update to the law, but before it hits the President's desk, one big problem needs to be addressed.

Chemical industry lobbyists and some lawmakers are pushing hard to preempt efforts by states to protect us from toxic chemicals. States across the country have led the way to protect their citizens from toxic chemicals, and we need to ensure they can continue to safeguard us. Tell Congress to preserve state power in the final bill so states can continue to protect us from toxic chemicals.
