Tell Gov. Malloy Connecticut Needs a Raise
Gov. Malloy: Connecticut needs a raise. It's time to raise the minimum wage.
Why is this important?
Connecticut has the highest cost of living in the nation. But while the rich recover and corporate profits rebound, ordinary families are struggling.
It is unconscionable in a state as rich as ours to have so many people who can barely pay their rent and keep food on the table.
President Obama has called for raising the minimum wage. So have all five of our state's US Representatives and both US Senators. Connecticut shouldn't let congressional gridlock stand in the way of a much needed raise for low wage workers in our state. It's time for Gov. Malloy to call for a minimum wage increase in Connecticut.
Big low wage employers like WalMart, McDonald's and Target are making huge profits -- even more than before the recession. But if you work for the minimum wage, you keep falling further behind.
Governor Dannel Malloy, you have a chance to lead. It is time to raise Connecticut's minimum wage.
