Tell Governor Malloy (AGAIN) No More Cuts to the Department Of Developmental Services

Governor Malloy announced today, March 16th, that in his quest to close the $220M budget gap, he has taken AGAIN from DDS with a $17.2 million cut in addition to his two previous recisions. Governor Malloy has no problem continuing to take from those who have no voice with intellectual disabilities. He has no emotional connection to this community, he posts nothing on social media compared with his transportation plan and his prison second chance society. He digs deeply into their voiceless pockets and strips the neediest of the funds. He is stealing from the families, the agencies who support those in need and the care givers! It is shameful.

Did you know:
The DDS budget has been cut by an excess of $50M in the past 3 years. There are more than 2,000 people on the Residential Waiting List! Day programs are being eliminated for upcoming graduates. Cut after cut after cut after cut.

Those working for state facilities earn excessive and uncontrollable overtime, even though the populations are shrinking in these facilities. We understand the needs of these families and facilities. We don't understand the extensive OT costs.

The economic situation here in Connecticut is at the tipping point, and more cuts are coming. The state is facing at least another $220 million deficit. This community MUST stand together and send a very loud and very clear message to Governor Malloy that we will not tolerate any further cuts. WE ARE SHOUTING AS A GROUP TO TELL GOVERNOR MALLOY NO MORE %#$#$(%*&$# CUTS TO DDS.

Sign this petition, comment, share with your friends. Last time around, we had 14, 500+ signatures to make the point this community has a voice and has people who care. Make me proud and lets break 20,000. :-)

NOTE: You do not have to live in CT to sign this petition, everyone is welcome!

Why is this important?

The people of Connecticut with Intellectual Disabilities, their Families and Care Givers deserve better. Tell Governor Malloy no more cuts!
