Tell Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin to block SB 180

SB 180, which violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964, opens the door to discrimination based on sex, race, religion, and sexual orientation on a scale not seen since before the civil rights movement. The people of Kentucky deserve better!

Why is this important?

If this bill passes, it will set a precedent that any state can protect those who wish to discriminate, so long as it is for religious reasons. Because it is impossible to prove whether a person's religious beliefs are "sincerely held", SB 180 would allow someone to refuse service to any person without repercussions.

Reasons for signing

  • The spirit of this bill does NOT represent the spirit of all Kentuckians! Like many states, including ARIZONA, those in power dictate action taken...unfortunately the voter base elected a short-sighted, power-hungry Republican who does not necessarily represent all Republicans. This is only one of many bills or actions taking our Commonwealth back to the Dark Ages.
  • Please block SB 180
  • Not only is this a thinly veiled attempt to counter the civil rights gains of millions, even within confines of Christianity it's a problem. You could have Baptists refusing to serve people wearing St Christopher's medals.
