A thousand people die everyday in the US waiting for an Organ. Yet a cure exists, researchers at the University of Minnesota have developed a way to replace organs with no requirement of donor compatibility and with no anti-rejection drugs. This method is a full cure, that would allow people stricken with organ failure to return to a completely normal and healthy life. The method was spotlighted in an installment of PBS's Nova Science Now titled "Can We Live Forever?." I have personally contacted one of the developers Dr. Doris Taylor at the above mentioned university to try to make this cure available to myself as I need a kidney transplant and I was met with much small talk and a general avoidance of the question I was asking. This to me was like a death blow and was literally for a thousand people today. i do not know who owns the rights to this cure/method but I know it is morally wrong to keep it from the people that need it.
Why is this important?
A thousand people die everyday in the US waiting for an Organ. Yet a cure exists, and has existed since at least 2006 and is being kept from the people who need it most; these deaths ruin lives, tear families apart, bankrupt our middle and lower classes and significantly increase spending out of our programs like Social Security and Medicare. All of which is unnecessary.
