Tell NPR: Cover Actual Issues in Your 2016 Election Coverage
NPR's 2016 election coverage has thus far focused far too much on who is leading or trailing in the polls, and far too little on where candidates stand on the pressing issues facing America today (gun safety, climate change, income inequality, etc.). Americans deserve better. I urge NPR to include a breakdown of where candidates stand on key issues in every 2016 election story you run from now until election day.
Why is this important?
This morning I heard yet another feature 2016 election story on NPR ("Clinton is 'Worried' About Bernie Sanders--But Should She Be?") in which not a single mention was made of where candidates stand on the issues facing America. Not climate change, not gun safety, not national security--only a brief passing reference to income inequality. Our democracy would be stronger if Americans could more easily determine how candidates' stances on the biggest issues match up with their own views, but NPR is not helping to make that happen.
