To: The United States House of Representatives, The United States Senate, and President Donald Trump
Tell President Trump & Congress - National Concealed-Carry is Dangerous for Communities and Schools
This legislation (S. 446 & H.R. 38) will allow extremely dangerous individuals to carry loaded, concealed guns in states that otherwise would have laws to prevent them from doing so. In essence, states with the weakest gun laws will now set the standard for the nation, allowing individuals with NO SAFETY TRAINING, with VIOLENT MISDEMEANOR CONVICTIONS, or with a demonstrated HISTORY OF DRUG OR ALCOHOL ABUSE to legally carry concealed, loaded guns in every state in the country.
Additionally, this legislation not only affects our communities, but many of our K-12 schools, colleges and universities as well. Individuals who may not qualify for a concealed license in one state, would now be able to obtain a permit in another state with minimal or no requirements and legally be able to carry in their home state. For example, a 19-year-old college student in Texas (whose minimum age for a permit is 21) would be able to obtain a permit from Utah (minimum 18) and legally be able to carry on his or her campus in Texas.
For these, and other reasons, I ask you to oppose S. 446 & H.R. 38, and similar legislation. Thank you.

Why is this important?
Update: Dec. 6, 2017
Today, the House of Representatives is due to vote on HR 38.
(S. 446 & H.R. 38) would redefine who could carry a loaded, concealed weapon in public areas across the nation. Currently, states designate their own laws concerning who is qualified to carry a weapon and this law will undermine the authority of the state.
This legislation is extremely dangerous because it would allow the states with the weakest gun laws to set the standard for the nation. For example: "states that have taken the most lax approach to concealed weapons permitting would effectively set the national standard, allowing individuals with no safety training, with violent misdemeanor convictions, or with a demonstrated history of drug or alcohol abuse to legally carry concealed, loaded guns in every state in the country."(1) Most importantly, one version of this legislation would allow individuals who live in states with no training or permit requirements to carry in states that do require such measures.
Tell President Trump and Congress to continue to allow individual states to maintain local control and determine their own safety laws concerning who can carry loaded, concealed weapons.
