Tell Tacoma/Fife Regional UPS to pay offered/advertised wage to seasonal workers
UPS HR in the Tacoma/Fife Region needs to pay the offered and advertised wages to their seasonal employees. Currently many seasonal Personal Vehicle Drivers (PVDs), Driver Helpers, and possibly other seasonal job positions are being paid an hourly wage less then what they were offered.
The writer of this petition can confirm the following:
PVD positions were advertised and offered at $25/hour. Many are only being paid $21/hour. This includes the petition writer, Danielle Harrington.
Driver Helpers- Via management and a full-time driver, the writer of this petition learned that many Driver Helpers were initially hired at $14/hour, but then were paid $12.35/hour. After many Driver Helpers quit, our local UPS HR then raised the pay to $18/hour. There are currently Driver Helpers receiving 3 different wages in our region. The wage needs to be a consistent $18/hour for all Driver Helpers.
Seasonal Truck Drivers- The writer of this petition knows of at least one seasonal truck driver who being paid $21/hour, but they were told they would be paid $25/hour.

Why is this important?
Seasonal workers are spread out throughout Pierce County, so it is hard to organize. It is the hope that this petition will help seasonal workers share their stories and also spread the word about our local HR department's deceptive (or in the least- very disorganized) hiring practices of seasonal workers to each other and our community.
This time of year, companies like UPS, Fed Ex, and Amazon ramp up hiring due to the increased volume of deliveries. UPS is a large company here in South Sound, and our community should know how they are currently treating many seasonal employees.
Seasonal employees are essential to getting work done during the holiday season. They deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. Many were deceived or had their pay rate misrepresented when they were hired. As far as the petition writer knows, there has been no written communication from UPS HR to confirm that employees who are being underpaid will receive back pay and have their wage changed to the rate at which they were hired. Seasonal employees deserve to be compensated for the hourly wage they were offered (and that was publicly advertised), and there should be consistent ($18/hour) wage for all Driver Helpers.
Middle management and union reps have been working hard (at least from the petitioner writer's experience) to support seasonal workers and advocate for the pay they were offered when hired. The high turn over of seasonal workers impacts management and all the full-time drivers at our regional UPS.
