To: The Honorable Loretta Lynch, Department of Justice, Attorney General of the United States
Tell the DOJ: Hold VW executives accountable
Dear Department of Justice,
We applaud your first step of filing a civil suit against Volkswagen for its emission scandal. However, full accountability and justice includes criminally charging the individuals responsible for crimes committed by Volkswagen. Please stand up for justice and make sure VW and the executives responsible for these crime are held fully accountable.

Why is this important?
Volkswagen installed "defeat devices" on some 567,000 "clean" diesel cars in the U.S. to avoid emission control laws. These devices are elaborate software that turn on emission controls during testing, and turn them off during regular driving. As a result, these cars can emit as much as 40 times the legal limit of NOx, a major smog-forming pollutant.
The Justice Department has been seen as the only agency that might hold executives personally accountable for this wrongdoing. While they have filed a civil suit to levy penalties against the company, they haven't pressed individual criminal charges yet -- so they need to hear from you.
