Tell the FDA: No GE salmon on our plates
Commissioner Hamburg, I am writing to urge the FDA to conduct a full Environmental Impact Statement before making any decision about genetically engineered salmon. Please consider the risks full-scale farming of GE salmon would pose to wild salmon when--not if--fertile GE fish escaped into our oceans.
Why is this important?
The FDA is poised to approve genetically engineered salmon for human consumption. We only have until April 26th to tell them no! This salmon would be the first-ever genetically engineered animal to sneak onto our dinner plates -- and it likely won’t be labeled!
Please urge the FDA to conduct a full Environmental Impact Statement that considers the dangers genetically engineered salmon would pose to wild salmon and ocean ecosystems.
