To: United States Department of Justice, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas, and Greg Abbott, Attorney General of Texas

Tell TX officials and the DOJ: Bring justice in the case of Alfred Wright

A Sabine County, TX community suspects foul play and a police cover up after the tragic disappearance and death of Alfred Wright — a 28-year-old Black husband and father of three.

Violent and unsolved murders when the victim is Black is an old story in this part of Texas and the Wright family has good reason to suspect racially-motivated foul play. Help Alfred's family learn the truth.

Call on the Department of Justice, Governor Rick Perry and Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott to conduct a thorough investigation into both Alfred’s death and the Sabine County Sheriff’s Department’s mishandling of the case.

Why is this important?

When Alfred Wright — a 28-year-old Black husband and father of three — mysteriously vanished last year in November, it took only four days for the Sabine County Sheriff's Department to give up searching for Alfred's body. The Sheriff's Department never gave Alfred the benefit of a thorough investigation, which is particularly jarring considering Sabine County's notorious history of racial violence directed at Black residents.

Our elected officials and leaders in government have a duty to hold law enforcement to a high standard of conduct and ensure that the murders of Black people do not go unsolved.
