To: The United States Senate

Tell your Senators: Don't let GE salmon sneak into our food system unlabeled!

Dear Senator,

As your constituent, I urge you to support The Genetically Engineered Salmon Labeling Act (S.1528). GMO salmon may not be adequately covered under the USDA’s proposed GMO labeling law, and if GMO salmon comes to market, I want to know if I am purchasing wild, sustainably caught salmon or GMO salmon. The production of GMO salmon could have unintended consequences for wild salmon and threatened ecosystems. This bill would require a much needed review of the FDA's current approval process for new GMO fish species. In addition, I urge the Senator to call for the FDA to consult Tribes potentially impacted by GMO salmon, a requirement that has been ignored to date.

Genetically engineered salmon must be clearly labeled. I want to know what production practices I am supporting with my food choices and to ensure I am not supporting GMO salmon and its environmental risks.

Please co-sponsor and support The Genetically Engineered Salmon Labeling Act (S.1528).

Sincerely,

Why is this important?

The company that developed GMO salmon is pushing for its product to reach U.S. stores unlabeled.

Senator Lisa Murkowski recently introduced new legislation that would stop this fish from sneaking onto our dinner plates. We need your help to encourage your Senators to support this legislation.
