Tell your Senators to oppose industrial ocean fish farms in our waterways!

Dear Senator,

I was alarmed to hear that Senator Wicker has introduced new legislation that would permit industrial ocean fish farms in federal waters. It is extremely distressing that the bill seems to ignore the significant impacts that these factory fish farms have on the environment and protected species by placing the new program under the Magnuson Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act, and within NOAA’s jurisdiction.

Magnuson-Stevens is meant to protect our oceans and wild fish stocks, and NOAA is charged with protecting our oceans and conserving marine species and their habitats. Allowing industrial ocean fish farms in our oceans contradicts each aspect of these missions.

I urge you to do everything you can to prioritize opposing this piece of legislation. Please do not hand over our oceans to factory fish farms, and instead, support truly sustainable seafood production alternatives.

Thank you,

Why is this important?

These massive facilities are essentially floating factory farms that devastate our ocean ecosystem, public health, society and the economy.

Rather than throwing its support behind industrial fish farms in our oceans, Congress should be building more support for sustainable seafood production alternatives. But we need your help to convince it to act!
