To: President Donald Trump, The United States House of Representatives, and The United States Senate
Telling it like it is
The pressure being applied on our K-16 educational system to produce a workforce for the 21st century is unrelenting and out of sync with the economic realities we as a nation have had to face for many years. I am fully confident that the education system of the United States is fully capable of preparing students for whatever future they choose. The problem is that the infastructure of this country that requires skilled workers has been exported to countries where the working wage is a fraction of what it is here in the US. We can't have it both ways. Stop exporting the jobs. Export what the jobs produce here.
Why is this important?
Former governor Romney and his beliefs are the antithisus of what has happened economically in this country. Chasing the almighty dollar at the expense of the working millions that form the core of our nation cannot continue as can the canabalizing of American industry by exporting jobs to other countries. As educators we have been charged with creating the workforce for the 21st century, but to what end. We can prepare them, but if there are no careers out there for them to pursue, what is the point.
