To: President Stephen Percy

Temporary Distance Learning PSU

We urge you to please switch to distance learning for at least 2 weeks to allow covid to settle down on campus. Winter break, and the traveling of everyone, has had a severe impact in covid cases and campus health. We should not be forced to come to campus or sacrifice our grades/attendance.

Why is this important?

If we the students urge the PSU President to make this change, we can begin to feel safer about ours, and everyone else's health on campus. If you're sick, you will not have to miss out on your classes because you can't attend. Remote classes for two week please to allow for flexibility for your students who are getting sick or may be exposed

The Provost Responded!!:

"Thank you, Cody, for sharing this petition. I appreciate you bringing forward these understandable concerns.

While we have decided not to shift entirely to remote instruction, we have made accommodations to enable departments to temporarily shift classes to remote if high numbers of students are not able to attend class. We continue also to shift classes to remote if instructors are unable to teach in person due to COVID.

TLDR: we know covid is crazy right now but we will still be doing in person, individual professors can choose to do remote or hybrid if they would like.
