Ten Pound Island

We petition the city to reject the proposal for development on Ten Pound Island. There is a significant variety of nesting birds that inhabit the island. They depend on a sensitive environmental ecosystem. Fledglings find food, shelter and protection from predators in overgrown brush. Clearing paths and introducing large numbers of paying passengers and travelers to the island will not only be destructive to the nesting wildlife but be wrought with impacts requiring support needs.
As indicated by the proponent, the Harbor Park proposal includes development of a recreational area. This should be viewed as a gateway proposal with more development to come. We find no need to destroy the current ecosystem/wildlife population by opening the area up, simply for the sake of commerce. We petition the city to decline approvals of any kind.

Why is this important?

We need coastal ecosystem conservation.
