TERM LIMITS
In Congress, Senators "serve" 6 year terms, Representatives "serve" for 2 year terms. But we have Senators currently holding their positions for over 30 years, some of our elected officials in the past have served 40-50 years.
The longer our elected officials serve federally, the deeper they seem to wind up in the pockets of the rich and powerful, i.e. Lobbyists. When lobbyist money supports and funds our long term representation, they hold the power over the decisions of our elected officials. Their decisions wind up representing the will of the lobbyist, NOT OURS.
With term limits on service, a lot of this would change. I would like to see the same limits on service for Congress as for the President, 2 terms!

Why is this important?
Service in our governing bodies, as originally designed, was not a career choice; it was a form of volunteerism. Now it's a for profit business decision to "serve" in Congress, and until there are term limits, government gridlock as we know it today WILL NOT CHANGE.
