Term Limits for Congress

All 535 Members of the United States Congress are no longer serving the Citizens they were elected to serve. They are interested in maintaining their elected status, currying favor with special interests and more concerned with standing up in front of microphones than standing up and doing their duty.
A significant cause of this is that Members are practically guaranteed to be re-elected because of the monetary advantage and recognition advantage of being in Congress. This advantage needs to be eliminated since the vast majority of the Members of Congress refuse to fulfill the duties they took an oath to perform.
This petition asks that you show your support for an 18 year term limit for anyone elected to Congress. That would mean that any person elected would only be able to serve a total of 18 years, be that in the House or the Senate or divided between the two bodies. Additionally, if there is a break in service (they are defeated or choose not to run for re-election) any future service time would add to the previous service time, again to add up to no greater than 18 years.
