Term limits for Congress

When we won our independence from the British, the people wanted to make George Washington king of America. He refused and created the Presidency and declined to run for a third term. But, after President Franklin Delano Roosevelt ran for four terms, the 22nd Amendment limited any future Presidents from serving more than two terms.

We need to create a new amendment for the other high-ranking offices of the government. Some Congressmen spend their entire lives in their position being re-elected over and over again until they die.

We do not need our leaders wheel-chaired into office everyday. We do not need their ideals from an outdated philosophy that they adopted in their youth decades ago. Prejudice, corruption, and religious discrimination are not a part of our government.

We need new blood, fresh faces, modern ideals in our government and that is why this petition suggests that all positions held in higher levels of government be limited to two terms only. There is no reason that Congress not be held to the same standards as the President.

Please sign this petition and pass it on to all your friends. The government is here to serve 'we the people' so let us impose our will.

Why is this important?

What does it say about America when the government goes on strike? When employees of a company go on strike, the company just hires new people. Maybe that is what we need, fresh blood in office. The government is designed to serve us the people, not special interest parties. We need to take the corruption out before it festers.
