Texas Christians Urge Governor Rick Perry to Accept Medicaid Expansion

This is a call for Governor Rick Perry to allow the working poor in the great state of Texas access to Medicaid as provided by the Affordable Care Act.

According to the New England Journal of Medicine, for every 172 new enrollees in Medicaid, there is one less death. Therefore by refusing to allow Texans access to the Medicaid expansion, one can plausibly lay nearly an additional 6,000 Texans deaths per year, directly at the feet of Gov. Perry.

This Christmas, please honor your Christian faith Governor Perry and accept the Medicaid expansion offered by the Affordable Care Act. You will be preventing the needless deaths of 6,000 people over the next 12 months.

Texas Christians are praying for you to do the right thing.

Why is this important?

The Christmas season should be a time of celebrating the teachings of Jesus Christ. I cannot as a Christian sit silently by as Governor Rick Perry allows people to die because of politics. The Medicaid expansion will not cost the state of Texas one penny for the next three years but in that time Medicaid will save nearly 20,000 lives.

Isn't saving even one life worth the time it takes you to sign this petition?

Please join Texas Christians in urging Governor Rick Perry to listen to his heart and open the doors of health care to the working poor of Texas.
