Texas Educators: Teach the Truth about Slavery, Jim Crow to Students.

Texas students will now be taught in Social Studies classes that slavery was not the main cause of the civil war. Additionally they will not be taught about our nation's history of Jim Crow laws in what publishing companies call an approach to reading content "tailored to the educational standards of states." Tell Texas educators: Teach the truth!

Why is this important?

Students should not be taught a watered-down history of slavery in this country. This petition is about calling out Texas (and textbook companies) for leaving out key historical facts that are critical for students to gain insight and context on present day racial disparities. Our country must face its past if we hope to make equality a reality in the future.
