Texas Representatives: Give up Your Paycheck
Texas senators and House representatives need to do the responsible thing by not receiving their paychecks while the government is shut down. I believe those who represent our great state should set the example. While the government shutdown is in effect and federal employees and services are stopped, the ones who are responsible for the shutdown should feel the sting. Most people serving at this level are independently wealthy. If they are forcing park rangers to miss out on their paychecks, surely wealthy Congress members can do without.
Why is this important?
It is a matter of justice. All members of the House and Congress should not get special privileges when there is a government shutdown. Now is the time that Texas representatives can literally put their money where there mouth is and show that they are able to stand along side federal workers who will not receive the paychecks they depend on to pay their bills and support their families.
