This week, President Obama will sign an executive order both prohibiting federal contractors from punishing employees who discuss their pay and making them provide compensation data that includes a breakdown by race and gender.
This is an amazing move against the congressional gridlock that's kept real reform from going forward — and we need to recognize it as such.
Why is this important?
It's past time to address the huge income inequality in this country, and to loosen the grip employers hold over intimidated, overworked and underpaid workers.
