The Mariners operated the ships that delivered the troops to their fighting stations, kept them supplied and to keep them supplied these mariners lost their lives and ships fighting Germans and Japanese submaeines, aircraft and pocket battleships, were interned as prisoners of war and they were refused to be recognized as veterans for benefits under the GI bill in 1984 after a law suit the Mariners, they were declaired veterans. Since that time the Mariners have been fighting to get Congress to pass a bill that would give these
Combat Veterans some benefits. Every western nation that was involved in World War II have given their Merchant Mariners some benefits. We are asking for some help to get HR23 passed. Everyone is asked to write, call, fax your Congressman to sign on as a co-sponsor and supporter.
